Wow! The final day of this challenge, it's come around so quickly and i've managed to be creative every single day. Feeling very pleased.
So, what next? Well, i'm going to continue to be creative everyday, it may not be painting although I have really enjoyed that - I've never been much of a painter, not acrylics anyway, and would love to improve (hehe, let's face it, there's plenty of room for improvement!).
Next week I head away, off island for a couple of months - first to England to visit my family then travelling down through France and Spain - I'll stay in southern Spain for two months. I need to decide what art supplies to take with me - I would love to paint while i'm there so have some of the 6" x 6" canvases set aside. I'll also be packing my sketchbook and watercolours. Decisions, decisions...
Anyway, my final painting is a still life, my beloved Bialetti coffee maker and a couple of coffee cups. An artist friend called round mid-painting and said "oh my goodness, why have you chosen something so difficult!" The answer being "well I like a challenge" :-)
OK, It has issues but at the start of this challenge I would never have dreamed of attempting something like this - I've been very much inspired by the amazing art that all the other participants have been posting day after day on Leslie Saeta's blog http://30paintingsin30days.weebly.com/blog Thank you Leslie so much, i've enjoyed my first time with this 30 in 30 challenge and will definitely participate again!
So here it is, acrylics on 6" x 6" canvas board
A day of horrendous weather with gusts of up to 66mph overnight and not much better now (9pm), it's still gusting to nearly 60mph out there with snow flurries and, with the windchill, is -7C outside!
Yet another busy day. Decided to have a re-work of one of the paintings I did earlier in the month, the rock pool one. This time on a 6" x 6" canvas board. Wasn't that happy with it but you have to try these things - so, here it is anyway. I did however enjoy working with my favourite colours at the end of a crazy busy day :-)
Very little time today for putting brush to canvas or paper. As well as being an artist and photographer I also work as a self-employed bookkeeper and here in the UK the deadline for filing your annual tax return is the 31st January - some people like to leave things right until the last minute so today I've had a pile of last minute accounts to prepare. this happens every single year and I start reminding people at least 6 months previously that they need to get my paperwork to me. It's not until late January that the threat of an automatic fine of 100 pounds for late filing impinges on their consciousness and they get around to bringing me their paperwork. Aaaarghhh!
So today all I did was another exercise from the Rolina van Vliet book, working with black and white. Acrylic paint on A4 mixed media paper.
Thought I would spend my final week of this challenge doing still life paintings. This one also doubled as my Wanderlust 2016 homework.
I'm really pressed for time this week as I leave the island a week on Wednesday for an extended break in Spain, wich i'm really looking forward to - ah, what art supplies to pack and take is my biggest question?! I'm driving down through France and Spain so I won't have as many space restrictions as I would if I were flying.

Well the weather has been pretty awful and my plan was to return home tomorrow - however, the forecast looks pretty awful so I chanced it and headed down at first light to get the first ferry of the day back to my island. Before leaving I made sure that my friend's cat, cows and sheep were fed. The ferry was on amber alert but I was very thankful that it sailed - the way it's looking this week I could have been stranded for days on the other island! Bit lumpy and bumpy on the crossing but I had my head in a good book to distract me.

Today's painting, now i'm safely home is another one inspired by Kate Crane. On showing my daughter she suggested that the four that i've done look like the seasons - Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter. And yes, I think she's right - see picture of all four together below todays painting.

OK, so having done 7 days of abstracts it's time to have a go at something else. I have been really enjoying the abstract exercises from the van Vliet book and I intend to continue with them each day, in addition to the daily painting for the challenge.
My first painting going into the fourth week of this challenge is inspired by the amazing Kate Crane. There was a fabulous tutorial by Kate on Wanderlust 2016 a couple of weeks ago and this is my take on it. It is on mixed media and materials used include acrylic paint, Posca paint pens and a little stamping. I really enjoyed doing this - probably because it incorporates my favourite colours - purples and blues!
