Inspiration Wednesday - Week 2

After the frantic activity of 30 Paintings in 30 Days I was a little behind with Donna Downey's Inspiration Wednesday - the latest (and second for 2016) video came out on the 20th January but I've only just got around to doing it today! 

I have to say I love Donna's videos - she's so funny! OK, IW 2016 is $35 for the year, but believe me it is worth every cent for how how much Donna makes me laugh :-D

I really liked the burning part of this one - I was tempted to melt the cattle ear tag but thought I might end up overcome with noxious fumes. As it was I set the fire alarm off in the house and DH came running to see what was happening. "Don't worry, it's just art darling" I told him...

A mixed media painting today, and like yesterday, inspired by Kate Crane's tutorial on Wanderlust 2016. 6" x 6" mixed media paper.

30 Paintings in 30 Days - Day 22

OK, so having done 7 days of abstracts it's time to have a go at something else. I have been really enjoying the abstract exercises from the van Vliet book and I intend to continue with them each day, in addition to the daily painting for the challenge.

My first painting going into the fourth week of this challenge is inspired by the amazing Kate Crane. There was a fabulous tutorial by Kate on Wanderlust 2016 a couple of weeks ago and this is my take on it. It is on mixed media and materials used include acrylic paint, Posca paint pens and a little stamping. I really enjoyed doing this - probably because it incorporates my favourite colours - purples and blues!

El torro

El torro, one of the mini artworks I've been working on this afternoon, the handmade linocut is inspired by my recent travels on the Camino de Santiago in Spain. I will be making these into cards for my forthcoming exhibition.
